Remove the heatsink to help bring the cost down, you can add one later as an upgrade. The integrated graphics of the trinity APU will walk all over COD4. If you overclock it improves CPU and the IGP performance together.

You can add a dedicated GPU much later, I think you'll be happily surprised at what the trinity APU can do. Everyone I know who got a Llano (the prequel to trinity) laptop on my recommendation are over the moon with it.

I could really sacrifice the GPU I guess, I want to play League of Legends mostly, that's all I'll be playing but obviously I'll upgrade?

Edit: Thanks Honos!

Agreed the Trinity IGP is quite nice. OcUK had a video somewhere of them using it on Borderlands 2 which I'll try and find.

Its worth noting there is no upgrade path with Trinity without replacing the CPU and motherboard entirely.

I'd like to see some variations with this Trinity.
Anyone up for that?

How do you mean?

Idleman and I have started on the same base ie same APU, RAM and mobo. You want the A75 chipset for overclocking and HDMI output.

I used a modular PSU and a smaller HDD but you get the idea of what's possible

I didn't go back up to check, really tired-.-!
And it doesn't have to be overclockable, I'm a newbie to overclocking.
HDMI output, I thought DVI was better?

DVI and HDMI are the same really, except that HDMI can carry the audio as well. Which is why Idleman and I used the A75 chipset mobo, much more convenient to hook up to the TV via HDMI.

You don't have to overclock but it's nice to know you could tweak a bit more performance if you wanted to later on.

I'm gonna go for the HDMI option then, plainly because of the audio.

And yeah I know what you mean

;Just looked at the trinity builds, anyway of making them a bit cheaper? Or being able to reduce performance now, upgrade later?

I'm not overly keen on the PSU but it'll do I suppose. Included a keyboard and mouse too for under £350

Comparison between intel i3 and AMD A10 here. Similar price for either CPU but the AMD IGP is more capable for gaming than the i3s as we have shown with the video links

335/325, doesn't sound bad!
I will more than likely order these parts when I've got the money in my bank!
Any other suggestions are welcome - this system is mainly for playing LoL if any new readers are reading!

The Psu should be fine.

Power Consumption

Power Consumption on the A10-5800K was very impressive. The power consumption actually fell quite a bit from the first generation A8-3850 levels. AMD has obviously focused on making power consumption an issue. The following is a measure of the power consumption of the complete system at certain points during operation. Measurements were taking with a P3 Kill-A-Watt meter. While these wattages are somewhat low, it is important to note that they are definitely higher than the Sandy Bridge H67 platform with an i5-2500K CPU.

Idle 37 Watts

During 2hr Netflix Stream 78 Watts

Gaming 103 Watts

Prime95 & Furmark Stress Test (2hr) 150 Watts
