Building a tree house!

You sure it's going to be stable enough just using post spikes? Once kids start bounding around on it and wobbling it all over they are probably going to start getting pretty loose...

Time will tell :D Having been up there sawing with my brother, it does feel completely solid, we are also going to attach it to the fence at the back as well as strengthen the legs with diagonal beams, plus each three sections are bolted to each other for additional support.

We also added gravel around the bases of the post spikes, they don't seem to move at all.

No more work on it so far though, think we are going to pencil in some work on Friday.

Fair do's. Only mentioned because personally I would have dug little footings and concreted around the posts. But if it's sturdy already, and you're planning on bracing it further then it'll prolly be fine :)

1. screw the screws in proper :P
2. id at least brace them legs low down to stop them either bending in or out!

Agree,
It feels rigid now but wait until the screws have been loosened. Those are nail plates and each hole requires a nail to meet its design spec, screws only work if they fully compress the plate against the wood.

There is nothing geometrically that is stopping that rectangle turning into a rhomboid, every joint you have made is a pivot.

Looking good OP :)
As for decking/wood staing... they never look like they do on the tin haha :p

So if it was closed rather than a platform and didn't go over (i think?) 1.4m that would be fine, but with an open deck part of it, it'd need planning permission?

Interesting, I see exactly what you're getting at haha, daft regulations.
