Wasn't sure which part of the forum to post this on, since I need a bit of help with woodwork.

I'm putting together an arcade cabinet (flat pack), it's mostly assembled, despite the instructions being worthless and my next challange is putting a monitor in.
I've got 19" LCD monitor on order, but I don't really have a clue how to mount the monitor inside the cabinet.

Anyone built their own cabinet and able to offer advice, pictures appreciated :p

Yeah I built a few, but no bigger then my shoe.

Make up a holder out of wood, and slide it in. That is what i would do.

Have you considerd getting a proper arcade monitor? I have a really old cab with a lovely flickery 15khz tube in it, I just don't think an LCD would look right. I'd even consider an old CRT PC monitor first, you'd probably be able to get one for nothing!

Old school monitors can take a beatin'. ;)

I dropped one out of a mini-bus into a puddle once, then picked it up and shook it to see if anything was broke inside. Still worked!

Friends face when I picked it up and gave it a shake was priceless.

I have an old CRT from an arcade machine in my garage, but it's only about 15", LCD was easier, cheaper and lighter, plus it's an old 4:3 ratio, so that works for me.

Well the monitor arrived today, still in need of advice

My only real plan is to bolt the monitor onto a bit of wood, then fix it into the cabinet, like this

Suggestions are appreciated, also, what's the best way to cut the bezel? It's too big for the cabinet at the moment.

Well I got it in, used a monitor/tv mointing bracket in the end and just screwed it into a bit of wood :p

Any ideas on the best way to cut this bezel to size?

Mind me asking - is that flat-pack from Gremlin ?

Just asking because it looks very similar to the one on there. I have a very similar styled cocktail cab (black melamine, silver t-molding) which I bought last year. I'm only getting round to finishing it now as I wired it up early on and messed around with too many systems, got burnt out and didn't touch it for months - decided to keep it simple in the end, should be finished tomorrow!

Also I did exactly the same as you and used a Tv mounting bracket for my monitor :)

Hey DEL 707,
I have been looking at these Flat Pack Cabs today and i stumbled apon this thread. I have a few questions if you don't mind me asking. Was it easy to build ? Did you get the bezel and anything else with your order? How was delivery? Also if you could post more pictures that would be fantastic.

Heres a video of my old cab

This was my first attempt and i learnt a lot from it. Like how to wire a working coin mech! :D. But now i was to make one that looks more professonal. Im looking at getting this monitor to go with my cab http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/products/19inchopenframemonitor.htm but i need to speak to the guys at gremlin too see how easy this is mount in the cab also i need to know if they can supply a bezel and a few other bits too. Let me know how your getting on as I'm very excited too see how you finish yours off.

I'm interested in building a coffee table arcade. I have an old pc that is more than capable of running hyper spin etc I just need the cabinet.

Do people recommend gremlin? Any other places?
