Building an arcade cabinet

Hi, sorry for the late reply, last few days have been hell.

Sorry, don't have much in the way of pictures, she's still not finished looks wise, still need to sort out a marque etc, but she is working, which is all I care about to be honest :p

Running hyperspin which I love, still having trouble with the Nes and Master system setup, but I did get Visual pinball up and running last week which is great.

Cabinet was pretty easy to put together, most of it is with pegs and a few screws to tighten things up. The assembly guide that came with it is garbage though , but a bit of trial and error got it together.
When you order the cabinet, you get the option of having the bezel and the front and marque plexiglass. The plexiglass is the right size, but I had to cut the monitor bezel to size.

As for the monitor, I used a Dell P190S and a normal tv mounting bracket.

Not the most professional looking job in the world, but it does the job.

Order time was 1-2 weeks, can't remember, but it was made to order.

I do recommend Gremlin myself, we use the company at work as well. He actually sells some of the products we make. ;)
I did original have some Happ competition joysticks installed, but I changed over to Sanwa JLW's, much better 8-way control for fighting games.

that was my mistake, i should have not got mine working before finishing the rest of the build. played with it for a while but lost interest eventually because i just couldn't get motivation once it was playable.

good luck though.

its looking great. i ordered mine yesterday so i'll post up pictures when im done. if you wanted to compare or chat about things. I started desiging graphics and things for the cab. getting excited.

Damn it I really want to build one of these but my DIY skills are fail. I'd be ok with wiring and stuff, but the woodwork would be a mare I think!

This one is a kit.

My woodwork is really bad also, I hate cutting wood etc. I had a bartop which I got my old man to help with going back 5-6 years ago, he did the woodwork and I did all the innards/software. This time around I bought a kit myself for a cocktail cab, It came as a ready built, gutted cab. I bought the tempered glass top for it and as always get all my arcade bits from http://www.ultimarc.com/

I'll post up my one later on, youstolemyname this would be what your looking for - although mine is a "non-traditional" cocktail in the way that two controllers are side by side, but you can also get the "end to end" variety, which is the ones that we used to see in pubs, arcades in the 80's.

Op - shaping up nicely, Hyperspin is great if you have the time to set it all up a lot of work goes into it, you got all the emumovies too?

Keep posting as you go along! :)

Yup i have All the movies i need for my games as well as the themes. So far i have set up Mame, Dreamcast, Megadrive, Model 2, SNES, NES. I had full rom sets but i have gone through and hand picks out the games i want. But i seem to be adding more every day. Good practice with setting up Hyperspin i suppose. Can't wait for it to all arrive!

Another question quickly. My cab is coming tomorrow and I've been planning on building a stand to stick the cab on as im thinking it's going to be too low (160cm I was told) how do you find the high ? Is a stand needed?
