Hey all.
Am new to all this computing.
So i thought it was time to follow my brother in computers Ive got about a grand to spend, probably a little bit more.
Worked very hard to get this money and would like some advice on a graphic card to go with my system.
Ive been given my brothers old monitor a 24 inc as his upgraded to a hdtv.
Dave said if i waited till Jan i can have his old 4870x2. But just been bought the new need for speed shift for the pc.

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Gh
Asus P6TD Deluxe Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair Dominator 3GB (3x1GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
LG BH08LS20 8x Blu-Ray-RW/DVD±RW Dual Layer SATA Drive
Xigmatek Red Scorpion S1283 CPU Cooler
Asus Xonar D2X 7.1 PCI-Express Sound Card
Lian Li TYR PC-X2000 Aluminium Full-Tower. My brothers got this case and has water cooling in it. (Mabe upgrade in years to come to water cooling)
Corsair HX 1000W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply

Is this a good combo of parts for a gaming rig. Thats all i would be doing on it. but mabe my bro can show me some overclocking when he gets back from overseas. Army and all..
Thought about having a go on bros pc, but it looks really complicated. with all them pipes and all. he running two cards from what i can see but one leads coming out the back. Whats that all about. am also going to buy a pc mag(Any good ones out there?). so i can start learning about this kinda stuff.

Sorry for the posting twice. Been told to try in here.....

id think about a different cpu cooler (have a look in the overclocking section you will see whats popular)
if all you will be doing is gaming you dont need the blue ray ,look at the sony dvd writers

1000W is only needed if you're going for multi-multi GPU setups

e.g. tri SLI, quad xcrossfire, crossfire 4870X2 etc.

The trend is that power consumption of new parts goes down, not up.

The 850W model will cover you for any current sensible setup (e.g. crossfire 5870) and save you £50 in the process!

That would cost you about £800. There's no point in even getting it, it's too overkill for words. Why not give us a total budget? I mean, an i5 would probably do but...
