Processor Intel Pentium D 930 (BX80553930) Dual Core 3.00GHz FSB 800 2 X 2Mb Cache 775

Motherboard ASUS P5WD2 PREMIUM SKT775 1066FSB Intel 955x Chipset PCI-E DDR2-800 Dual GB-LAN

Graphics Card XFX GeForce 6800 XT Extreme Edition 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (PVT42E-UDE3) (GX-067-XF)

Power Supply Unit Hiper 480W Type-R Black PSU

Case Antec P180 EU Aluminium Super Miditower

Hard Drives Maxtor 6V300F0 DiamondMax 10 300GB 7200RPM SATA II 16MB Cache

DVD Writer NEC ND4570 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-030-NE)

DVD ROM Sony DDU-1615 DVD-ROM (Black) - OEM (CD-020-SO)

I also need some DDR2 RAM, I plan to OC this cpu to 4 ghz, what RAM do I need? Do I need DDR2 RAM that runs at 800 mhz?

Is there anything else I need?

This should probably be in General Hardware :)

Get an AMD X2. These are far better.

Better still if you can wait for Conroe in July - this outperforms both by a fair margain

Fine motherboard

I'd either get a 7600GS or try and stretch to a 7600GT

Get a Seagate, Samsung or Western Digital hard drive. Far more reliable

Fine choices

You'll need some ram that can do at least 267MHz so that you can run it 1:1 with the CPU FSB

Get a decent CPU cooler if you're going to be overclocking. The Intel stock ones are noisy and not that great. I'd also get a few case fans as the PDs chuck out loads of heat

Can you please recommend some ddr2 ram from here please? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Memory_8.html

Cheers!

So the minimum RAM speed I should get is

PC2-4200: DDR2-SDRAM memory stick specified to run at 266 MHz using DDR2-533 chips.

The Pentium 4 D 2.8 Ghz has a fsb of 200mhz so a memory speed of 266mhz should be ok?

Does the mobo support dual graphics cards?

DDR533 (PC4200) memory runs at 267MHz so that'll be sufficient to run 1:1

The P4 usually runs the memory on a 3:4 divider, that is the memory runs faster than the FSB. With the FSB at 200MHz (stock) and the memory on a 3:4 divider you'll get 267MHz (DDR533).

To run the FSB at 267MHz (to get 4GHz) and the memory on the 3:4 divider you'll need memory capable of running at 355MHz (DDR710). PC5300 memory is rated at DDR667 (334MHz) but should overclock to this

As for the memory to go for - I'd go for memory with the lowest latencies you can afford

The P4 usually runs the memory faster than the FSB to make up for the higher latencies compared to DDR

Officially, at this point, the motherboard doesn't support dual graphics cards running together. The 975X officially supports Crossfire. No Intel made chipset officially supports SLI

It is said that the 955X will support Crossfire in the near future. The second PCI-E slot only runs at 4X though limiting performance.

If dual graphics cards is a requirement I'd look at the 975X

They all support the use of multiple graphics cards to run multiple monitors, but not in a Crossfire/SLI situation
