Hi guys,

I am building a new PC, and wanted to know if there was any significant difference between these two following motherboards using a Quad Q9550 CPU
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-281-AS

Is there much difference performance wise? The reason I'm asking is with the first one being slightly cheaper I can use the saving to buy additional case fans for my ANTEC 300

thanks for the advice

16 phase power instead of 8 phase is the most obvious difference. I'd get the deluxe.
14 quid is expensive for a case fan, how many of them were you planning on buying?
Saving money on a motherboard to buy prettier fans seems strange

Used P5Q Deluxe and managed to take Q6600 to 3.4GHz on air with temp only around 67c :D

Get P5Q Deluxe, excellent overclocking board :)

Both are extremely good boards, the only difference being a slightly better heatpipe assembly on the deluxe and the 16 phase power, compared to 8 phase on the E, 16 phase power is reputed to be more stable with highly overclocked quads. Ive had the deluxe since release and have been very impressed with it, took my old q6600 to 3.8ghz, currently running a q9550 at 3.4ghz on it.

I've had the P5Q-E with a Q9550 at 3.4GHz, didn't try any higher but it ran fine with 8Gb RAM - biggest prob was that I needed to use all 6 of the std SATA ports and some were located right behind the primary PCI-e slot, so using my 4870X2 card proved a problem with cables directly underneath the back of the card - it can be done, but it's royal pain in the ****! Why do manufacturers insist on such an obviously flawed placement sometimes? Still, damn good board for the money.
