Hi guys

Wanting a new system but I am not quite sure what I should go for.

I want it for the likes of The Witcher 2 and Battlefield 3... All I do know is that my bedroom where the PC is stored tends to be pretty warm so I dont want a cheap case, as I want decent cooling but doesnt mean I want the most expensive case.

I think I want something along these lines....
i5 2500k, 8gb DDR3 ram (1600mhz?).... my plan is to eventually get a decent geforce card nearer the time but for now I will just use my single AMD 4870 card.

Im basically hoping to get everything in a decently cooled case for around £500 without a graphic card. Not sure what PSU I need either.

Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you :)

All I want is a tower without a graphic card, for roughly £500

Regards

Lee

A little over, PSU should be enough for dual cards.

Memory deal finishes tomorrow morning, unsure if you need optical drive:

Thanks fella
Would you say that case is good? or should I buy a more expensive one

Also do you or anyone know how much extra OCuk would charge if I asked them to build it for me?

The Antec 100 is a good case which has some nice touches like the interior is painted black and a cut out behind the motherboard to allow a cooler to be installed without the need to remove the board.

I don't know how much they would charge, your better asking in the customer section.

Or might just give it a go myself, always found it easy .. always except for the USB/Power/Reset wires.... you know the little tiny ones? Ive always struggled with them :(
Spoils my confidence when comes to building new systems because of that

I wouldn't worry about them, the P8Z68 comes with a small add on so to speak which allows you to connect those wires to it before seating it on the board.

not explained well. but it looks like this (1st image) and makes it a lot easier :)

How about this? Would all this work well together.

My current system is a Intel Core 2 Duo e8500 with DDR2 4GB Ram on the MSI P43 Neo Motherboard. I dont remember what PSU I have but I think it is a decent wattage one, like 750W or something. I have a ATi Radeon 4870 1GB Graphic card too.

Would my PSU work with everything on the new computer I am wanting to buy?

Im also wondering about the 2500k and 2600k for that matter. At the moment there is £60 price difference, is it worth upgrading to the 2600k?
Is it also true or false that purchasing a 2500k or 2600k is a waste of money if you dont intend on overclocking?

How effective is that CPU Water Cooler? Ive never used Water Cooling before. I am used to only setting up CPU Fan coolers and having to hoover/wipe them to clean off the dust every couple of months. How does it work with this CPU Water Cooler. Is it easy enough to install and how do you go about cleaning them or whatever you have to do with the water?

Is the chosen case fine for all this hardware? Will everything fit inside etc?

Cant think of anything else but yeah Im planning on buying all these for now.
Will be using the PSU, Hard Drive and AMD 4870 Graphic card for now, hoping they all work and overtime I will upgrade the graphic card. Buy a larger harddrive as well as an SSD Drive. Will also be using my DVD-Drive for now until I upgrade to a Bluray player later on.

Will everything be compatible and work fine?
Is there anything I am missing from the list

Thanks :P

Maybe I should drop the cpu water cooler and stick to the one you told me to get.
As for everything else?
Sorry for my long posts, I just want to be certain before ordering

wattage doesnt speak for quality for a PSU
can you look at the PSU name/brand and tell us, then we will know if it will power your system fine.

Actually its closer to 3 years old hehe. Christmas 2008 I got this system.
Not sure what the usual life duration of PSU's are, thats why Im saying this

Great stuff, ill go for the one thats £7 cheaper then :P

I have changed my shopping order somewhat since your first original one.
Im now back to your CPU Cooler you chose for me, the only difference I have changed is the 2500k. With the 2600k being £60 dearer, I have decided to get the 2600k instead.... but I havent ordered yet. Can you convince me otherwise to get the 2500k instead?
