building regs

Hi all,

I am wanting to build myself a brick/wooden out building in the corner of my back garden as kind of a lads pad/PC room/Library.

However, does anyone know what size I can build to before I need planning permisson?

Also, any websites on this kind of thing? Will be wanting to do a lot of the work myself on this project so the more info the better!

I can pull electricity in from the garage as I made sure the sparky gave it its own mains board/circuit.

I've asked here because i want personal opinions on sites that others have used and would recommend. There are loads of sites out there but I wanted a good one!
