Hi all,

I am wanting to build myself a brick/wooden out building in the corner of my back garden as kind of a lads pad/PC room/Library.

However, does anyone know what size I can build to before I need planning permisson?

Also, any websites on this kind of thing? Will be wanting to do a lot of the work myself on this project so the more info the better! :D

I can pull electricity in from the garage as I made sure the sparky gave it its own mains board/circuit.

EDIT: delete, decided i was coming across as a bit of a ****

not as much of a **** as my reply was going to be :)

I've asked here because i want personal opinions on sites that others have used and would recommend. There are loads of sites out there but I wanted a good one!

Best bet if you want to get the real answers is to contact the planning department at your local concil. They will be able to give you sepcific advice which will include any extra regs applied to the area in which you live. Contrary to popular belief planning departments and building control departments can quite often be very helpful and approachable.

Unless you want to be really cramped height wise, it'll be higher than a garden shed and hence I would imagine you'll need planning permission.

Could be classed as a temporary structure and therefore exempt, speak to the duty officer at your local planning department.
