Built in wiring and moving stuff

When my house was being built I got the builders to put speaker wires for 5 channels in behind the plasterboard. All the cables come out of the wall behind my amp and go straight into the speaker terminals. I would like to move the amp into the corner, which is a couple of metres away but unfortunately the cables won't reach as there is only about 50cm of cable coming out of the wall.

Can anyone think of an aesthetically pleasing solution that won't affect the sound quality? The cable is 315 strand stuff so is pretty thick, can I extend it somehow? Or can you get wall box face plates for speaker wires?

Could you tie some new cable to the old cable, or string and then pull it through? This assumes that the way it was put in would allow such a manoeuvre.

Thanks, actually I don't think a faceplate would look that great as I would then have wires trailing from there to where the amp will be.

I think I need to extend the cables somehow and enclose them in some trunking along to the new location.
