Hi all, just built my first rig the other day. With a bit of help from the internet and some trusty advice from my dad I finally decided what parts to get.
The parts I decided to go for where:
- Intel I5 3570k over-clocked to 4.4GHZ
- Artic cooling freezer 13
- Gigabyte Z77-D3H
- Corsair Vengeance 1600MHZ 16GB
- Sapphire HD7970 3GB Vapor-x edition
- 1TB hard drive taken from a previous computer, forget the name
- Bluray drive for all those Blurays I had left over from selling my PS3
- All in a Aerocool Predator x3 case
Luckily I had my dad to help me put it together, which made the job much easier!
At the moment I've only got a couple of games that i can run to test the card, Crysis and Arma 2 both of which run at the highest settings at 1920x1080 at 60-70 FPS. I'm hoping this rig will be able to run Crysis 3 at ultra settings? Just depends how much they effort they put into the PC version this time.
I'm just thinking in the long run, should I be looking to get a motherboard that supports crossfire, or will the Sapphire card be good for a few months, preferably till next summer?
Thanks for looking!
