Can you advise me if my basket order are ok with the full spec of highest range of graphic card with sandybridge. I am going to overclock it to 4.60GHz or maybe 4.70GHz with 1.35v.

Here is my shopping list:

apart from the PSU being complete overkill (unless you plan on using two of the 580GTX's) theres no problems there atall. seems a bit expensive for what your getting somehow, but theres nothing wrong with it

oh, and if your happy to have a smaller warranty, the OEM 2600k is ~£35 cheaper

Definitely a high spec system, what are you using it for?

The PSU can be dropped down a notch or 2 and the motherboard on the high price range.

The 580 gpu's have power monitors so they don't draw to much, my rig pulls 500w from the mains full load.

Does the H60 come with pre-applied thermal on it ? OK, I might look for OCZ 850W power supply then. I might go for OEM i7 2600K instead as the warranty doesn't bothered me at all as long I kept my i7 2600K below 1.35v and memory ram at 1.50v. The graphic card and motherboard are the top high spec for gaming, photo and video editing.

Updated:

1) Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM [BX80623I72600K] £219.98
2) OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold Certified' Modular Power Supply [OCZ-ZX850W] £129.98

Total £1603.59 (so I had knock off £77.50 off (also including free shipping cost)

Do you think I should go for this board instead : MSI Big Bang Marshal Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) **B3 REVISION** for just an extra £56.01

I would avoid the Hitachi 3TB drive. 3TB drives are over priced by a long way. Either get three samsung f3's for less cash, or get two 2TB caviar greens or something similar for 4TB again for less cash.

Hitachi are the worst drives in the business. I wouldn't use one if it was given to me.

Raid 0 drives really wont make any difference with regards to running normal applications, only in benchmarks. I have two ssd's in raid 0 myself, and to be honest it's complete overkill and I don't notice the difference running just one. I however need the storage that both provide.

So drop the Hitachi and ponder over the two ssd's. TRIM also isn't supported for raid0 drives. This does have an effect over time and required you to do a secure erase on the drives to return them to the original performance... a lot of hassle!

Here you go. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-097-SA. Two of them and you have 4TB of storage from quality drives and saving a tenner. Can't be bad.

Thanks for the tip Buchanan0204. I will avoid Hitachi HDD then and also drop out Raid0, you had a point right there, I use to have 2 x 120GB Vertex 2 SSD in raid0 and doesn't make any difference to be honest.

+1 3tb drives arent worth it at the moment

I will avoid Hitachi HDD

i disagree, i would say avoid western digital 2tb WEARS20, my WD died and i replaced it with a much better hitachi 2tb :)

There will of course be the odd exception. However, I replace dead hard drives on a week to week basis. I have a drawer full of dead Hitachi laptop drives. I've replaced well over 30 in the last 12 months out of laptops and the odd desktop. I've only ever had to replace one WD blue. Other drive makes seem to be solid also, Seagate for example.

A friend also bought a cheap 1TB external hitachi for 40 quid and it failed to play in her bluray player via usb, when every other drive I tried, including my WD Elements worked just fine... sent it back straight away.

They really are rubbish drives. Hence the name... Hitachi deathstar, not deskstar.
