Bulk email

Yes, I made a group with 25 email addresses in Outlook and the last 5 were returned undeliverable, it said something about exceeding quota.
Could it be the server is setting a limit? I work in a school and I sometimes have to send emails to all staff, which is over 50 people, and that never fails. My colleagues in the office send out a Friday memo with info about the following week's events, again to all staff and there's no problems. The only times I get any error messages is if a person's email address has changed and the old one is now unavailable which is a cue for me to remove it from the list. :)

Thats a good point, I'll ask the question of my providers, thanks.

No probs. :) I should add that we use LGfL servers so the servers aren't on site but a remote centre somewhere in London. This means we've not got any kind of access to the server and yet I've never had to contact LGfL support and ask them to increase the number of recipients for a group email. I suppose LGfL realise that some of the bigger schools might regularly send emails to all the staff, which could easily be 100+ people so they've probably set a limit really high or not even bothered. :) You may or may not be able to get the settings changed, if it is indeed limited, depending on how your organisation has its email servers set up.

As mentioned, it's probably not Outlook that's limiting things, it can do many more than twenty. Good luck talking to your providers, though, let us know what was causing the limit.

What version of Outlook are you using? Go to tools > options > email accounts and see how it's set up. It's probably POP3, are you using an O2 email address?

A copy / paste of the bounce back email will also help.

I am using the Outlook that came with my Office Professional 2010. Yes it is pop3 and an O2 email address. Like an idiot I have already deleted the bounce back message.
Out of 25 emails it only delivered 20. When I send the bounced 5 as a group on their own they went fine. Cheers.

It should be in your deleted items folder but I'd say the problem is with O2 limiting the amount of recipients to prevent spam rather than Outlook.

The problem is almost undoubtedly a limit set on how many mails you can send via the SMTP server you're attempting to use, which will probably be an o2 server. I'm not sure their support will be of any help, but you'll certainly be able to use a different SMTP server. :)

No worries - I use it quite a lot and its great.

Nice and easy to manage the lists too. Lets recipients manage their details (opt out / in etc...)
