I was just watching a movie when the little Burmese kitten started jumping up in the air doing ninja moves on a 2inch flying cockroach that was legging it across the room like a headless chicken - scared the hell out of me, so I caught the miniature tank and went to take him outside.... now it was here that I am most thankful, and thank goodness the light shown on the door handle... I saw this:

A Queen Bull Ant.

These suckers have a nasty sting in their tail thats loaded with venom, those nippers are for getting a good grip of their attacker or pray, they usually attack in large groups and are the most aggressive and feared ant in Australia. Which is why I loaded half a can of nerve gas onto him :D

I've never seen a queen though and the fact this thing could potentially kill my kitten is a problem, like Tree Wasps they do leave a scent once killed to alert other Bull ants near by, which is why I had to dispose of this monster rather sharpish.

Here is a pic from the net close up:

nuke it from orbit its the only way to be sure

Reminds me of Red Alert Aftermath ant missions, you need a mammoth tank to beat that thing

You should look for the nest, after all do queens not have nests?

This is the reason i LOVE not living in a tropical climate.

Yup, UK Best place to live in some respects, few nasty animals and no natural disasters, i.e. earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes

I'm in an arid climate - it's fire ants in the tropics that you want to be careful of, and they burn badly...

Here is what fire ants do:

Isn't there another sort of ant in jungles called bullet ants, which are supposed to have the most painful sting of any insect?

I'm fascinated by ants, but I would freak out if I saw this:

Fire ants were being friendly they were trying to give you a tatoo of a lama.

LMAO.

Also the Japanese Giant Hhornet is the most painful/toxic sting.

God i just realised why i hate insects again.
