Bullet cam / dual mic test run

errm ok m8 ,just pointing out its the same engine with the same mods making the same noise

I am not sure were the chav bit comes from, with nearly 200bhp with (imo) a good sound track, it aint no corsa

It doesn't sound the same. Probably because he has TB's. Yours is the same note but just gets louder when you press the throttle...

First off, it aint mine ,its my friends,i have one and its a standard v6

Second,it does have TB's and larger Injectors, K&N 57i and powerflow zorst decated (like i said same mods hence why i posted it)

So lets put the sound down to the fact its from outside the car and maybe the tree's grab the sound in more or something like that and lets leave tom to his thread :)

My Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but what camera are you using Tom?

I’m going to be buying one today, I’m looking at this one ATC2000.

Technical Details
• Captures video clips with sound
• Three selectable resolutions: 640x480, 320x240 and 160x120 pixels
• Video clip file format: AVI - 640x480, 320x240 and 160x120 pixels
• Two frame rates (15fps and 30 fps) for all three resolutions
• With built-in memory (32Mb) and SD card slot for memory expansion (Up to 2Gb)
• Waterproof
• Low-battery management
• Firmware upgradeable

But would like to know what you have running there.

Cheers,

Ben.

Bullet cam on my mazda worked quite well but i had issues with direct sunlight into the lens, hood on my bullet cam wasn't that great.

Still the output at 640x480 was alright and you got a good idea of speed when it was mounted in the mouth of a already low car.

Hey 1CE, i had to do a double take when i saw the thread back on the first page :p

I use a JVC mini dv camcorder (DX107 iirc) with a "sportcam" bullet cam ( http://www.sport-cam.co.uk ), and 2 of these mics

The bullet cam and the two mics run into the line on the camcorder, one channel of sound per mic, mixed together in post processing.

Tom.

Many thanks!

Sounds like that setup is quite a bit of hassel, or is that to achieve good results? What I'm worried about, buying the ATC2000 is bad sound quality.

Did you have some kind of shielding over your microphones to stop the wind noise.

Ben.

You can't use onboard mics to get anything decent! there was no shielding, the rear mic was in a nearly dead spot on the rear bumper, and the front mic is int he engine bay so no air anyway :)

Bumping this thread, as I've just hit ebay and bought the following:

Weatherproof bullet cam.
2.5" HDD Digital A/V recorder (connects to the camera and records as MP4 directly to HDD).
Camera patch lead with built in mic.

Came to less than £100 for the lot, the recorder doesn't come with a HDD but I have a spare 2.5" 60gb drive here to use in it.

Looking forward to playing with it :D

rG-tom Where did you get the bullet cam from?

It blatantly gives you a link there :p

Tom.

Drexel, what inputs does your recorder have? It would be a bit easier than using a dv camcorder :)

Sorry, missed this post.

It has standard composite video in and line-level left/right audio in. You wouldn't be able to plug you mics directly in as the audio inputs are line-level. Hence why I bought that 'audio patch lead', it has a mic and mini pre-amp built in, and outputs the audio as line-level.

Digital Recorder.

Audio Patch Lead.

I've been looking into a two camera setup. I have a DV camera but would need to buy another one for dual cameras. Any ideas for recording from two cameras?

I do have 2 spare 3.5" 120GB HDD drives to use.

You can get those digital recorders in 3.5" format, so I guess you could just get a couple of them.

Man I'd so love to do this. Could anyone help list out the kit needed? I've had a look at the microphones and bullet-camera but not too sure about the other bits, such as a camcorder which has the right inputs and doesn't cost the earth. :(

How do you route the cables from the microphone and camera back in to the car?

Cheers. :o

My mics have amps built in :) They are going into a line level input as it is :)
