Bungee jump goes wrong but a question

After the cord snapped, she fell for less than a second. I would say 20m max. The cord would have snapped at its maximum stretch and they are meant to go low to the water for the thrill.
 
surely the speed would be any random number as she was yanked back up for a second which would have reduced her speed.

anyone else hate seeing hot girls nearly die? always makes me more sad then normal
 
Is there anyway to calculate that given what we know? How much was she slowed as the bungee came under tension?

You could calculate it if you knew how fast she was travelling when it snapped and how long she fell for subsequently. Without those bits of info, anything is a guess.
 
The cord snapped at 11 seconds and she hit the water before 13.

Watching it in big screen, it snaps at around 10.5 seconds. She still hit the water before 13.

s=44m
It would have snapped at the bottom I presume. The actual height of the bungee jump is 233m and the website says free fall is for 5 seconds. Which is total **** and it seems as if they missed out the 1/2 in the suvat equation lol.

Assuming she actually fell for exactly 3 seconds, and assuming the cable snapped just when it had reduced her velocity to 0 (i.e. was about to start accelerating her back upwards), and ignoring the effects of air resistance for the brief acceleration, then she would have fallen 44 metres.

Having not seen the video they are pretty wild assumptions, though.

They usually only stretch 10% of the length of the rope, so it can't be that much out.
