BK has been mentioned a few times in the McD thread so I figured there may as well be a general Burger King discussion thread, although I expect fewer postings.

I've always preferred BK burgers to McD burgers but I don't go to either of them very often these days. The most recent was only a few weeks ago when we stopped at Fleet services on the M3, I had an xl bacon double cheeseburger with some fries and onion rings. The fries were decent but the onion rings were more ring than onion and the burger was almost cold.

I took it back and asked them for a hot one. The one they gave me to replace it wasn't really any warmer so I asked for another one. The chap told me that the one he'd done was fresh and that's how they're supposed to serve them now. I asked him to put it back in the dinger again for another cycle which he did and it was better but still not great.

No idea if that's normal or whether they have a problem with their microwave.

At one time BK for me was well above the standard of MD and then slowly their burgers got smaller and lacked taste and MD became the main choice between the two.

Twice in 2 years I've tried a BK to see if the years away have been a mistake and I should now start using them, but on the first visit I took 3 bits and binned it and then on the second visit I managed half before again, binning it.

Now this may be down to the franchise owners I visited and may not be so crap in other areas of the UK which will be one I will try again in another area when I fancy a cheap eat.

Just to make you feel better, did you know that there's an XL Bacon Triple Cheeseburger on the menu now?

And you can customise it to add an extra burger.....

I love the bacon double cheeseburger but find the smaller one too small and the XL is a lot of meat. It’s almost like they need a medium one. I’m rarely disappointed by the BDCB though.

The chicken Royale with fries added on top (by myself) is also very good.

I think those are 'Service Station Specials' - I don't think you'll find them in a regular BK outlet

It's valid, I had one once, strangely enough, it was at Fleet services on our way on holiday two years ago and I did add an extra burger. It needed extra bacon and cheese on top ;)

Good point, the twice I've seen it was at Fleet services.

I don't have BK near me, but if I happen across one on the motorway or whatever will always go for a Bacon Double XL.

I tried a few other bits off the menu, but so many of the options sound great in theory but are pathetically sized once they arrive. Given how much it costs, I at least want a filling meal.

BK. Far too expensive on the high street and, to make it worse, motorway services charge a good bit more than high street outlets.
I don't go near any of them simply for the fact they are too expensive.

At least McD offers same price whether it be high street or motorway services.

Vowed never to go back after the last time, tiny burgers, cold and dry with stale buns, cost was far too high. I now have a mental blacklist for all companies blatantely taking the **** and BurgerKing is on it, Tesco is too with their ******** clubcard nonsense, at this rate I wont have anywhere to get my food from :D

I must admit it's been quite a long time since I had a burger king.

I always preferred the burgers the McD's but basically anything and everything else they do is vile.

I remember having a triple whopper or whatever it was from the one in Watford and it was a beast.

I have heard they are really expensive these days though, something that seems to be my mentioned a fair bit already, which somewhat defeats the point, as in my opinion this type of thing should be fast and cheap, unfortunately there's days it seems they are neither.

Chicken Royale doesn't seem to have changed in size.
