Burger King general discussion

I must admit it's been quite a long time since I had a burger king.

I always preferred the burgers the McD's but basically anything and everything else they do is vile.

I remember having a triple whopper or whatever it was from the one in Watford and it was a beast.

I have heard they are really expensive these days though, something that seems to be my mentioned a fair bit already, which somewhat defeats the point, as in my opinion this type of thing should be fast and cheap, unfortunately there's days it seems they are neither.
BK burgers used to be far more superior than McD but not anymore in my experience.

I don't think McDonald's is any cheaper these days, if you order like for like. At least the quality is better than McDonald's, you get what you pay for, hopefully!

When I was about 12, I had a whopper burger from a BK down Brighton way. It made me violently sick. I don’t think I’ve been sick that bad since. I think it left me with some kind of PTSD as since then, even the slightest smell of the whopper sauce turns my stomach like a washing machine. Just awful.

Funny thing is, I absolutely love big tasty sauce, which has the same smoky profile to it, but there’s something specific about the whopper sauce that is completely incompatible with my digestive system

Current best fries are BK fries. But, I suffer form Bun Lag with Burger King. It can be years between BK phases with me, and when I do eventually give them a try again I'm like, Wow! The Whopper is amazing, so tasty, way better than a Big Mac, but after a few visits the awful dry buns they use catches up and I remember why I stopped going to BK. Then after a long while I forget about the buns and the cycle repeats. So I call it bun lag. Their buns just fall apart and are so dry.

Mind you, I don't like whatever it is they have done with Big Mac buns recently, horrible dark brown glazed looking things.

Went to burger king when come back from holiday, was the in airport one, other than the price (probably had airport tax included) and bk is definitely nicer than McDonald's.

That said, burger king on the continent (Spain is only place I've had on continent, but I'm told by my brother it's very simila in France and Germany) the menu is nicer, the meals are much larger, and the price is about the same.

The kids meals though, McDonald's are still better but only cos of toy/book. Bk don't do either and my boy is disappointed. Kids don't really care about taste, they usually leave half of it, and as long as it's beige they generally put it in their gob

Double Whopper with cheese every time.

Whopper sauce? it's just ketchup and mayonnaise.

BK. Far too expensive on the high street and, to make it worse, motorway services charge a good bit more than high street outlets.
I don't go near any of them simply for the fact they are too expensive.

At least McD offers same price whether it be high street or motorway services.

The BK app always has offers on, never have to pay full price.

Bit of an obvious trick with the offers on the app, but in case it has passed anyone by. They restrict you to only one deal at a time on the app for some reason, but to get round this simply make two separate orders one after another and shout both order numbers at the speaker at the drive through. Never got bollocked once so far for gaming the system.

BK do the better burger but I think I prefer McDonalds fries. I also I find their buns questionable sometimes as they can be a little dry. My favourite burgers recently have been the double whopper cheeses with spicy mayo but they stopped doing those :/

I think the issues are down to the people and managers of the branch. Some fast food locations are consistently good, some bad.

I like a lot of salad in my burger and BK where I am are usually much better than MD in this. Again where I am BK seem better run than MDs.

Noticed a lot when I was on my monthly trips to MK on the M1 compared to the difference found along the M40
Those on the M1 seemed to be staffed and owned by those that couldn't give a toss if you enjoyed it or not!

Almost forgot about the recent services on the M3 at Winchester and the half decent BK I had there.

Really, I thought it was a dedicated sauce on the whopper.

Anyway, there was something about the whopper that made me ill very quickly and since then the smell of them turns my stomach.

I once broke a tooth on a spicy bean burger around 2002.

BTW I heard BK burgers aren't flame grilled in the stores? is that true

Not hard one in ages. Their chips use to be brilliant, dead crispy but they change it a few years back and I’ve not really been since.

Angus steakhouse was excellent or a whopper with cheese. It use to cost a bomb but going by this thread it’s still the same. I’d rather just go for a pub lunch and get a pint for the same price!
