Sorry just came up on my alerts and it being a friday afternoon read the article. I just can't believe that with the huge obesity problem that the US has; and the spreading (no pun intended) problem that Europe has; that after a fall in profits last year they are back making more money than ever.

It boosted lunch and dinner sales with the Angus Cheesy Bacon burger and other oversized sandwiches aimed at men in their 20s and 30s.

``Young guys eat big,'' said Malcolm Knapp, a New York-based restaurant consultant.
How long will the US keep up with this mind bogglingly stupid obsession that stuffing your face until you can eat any more with food like this can be a good idea?

Sorry - there's no real point to this other than to wield my leet keyboard warrior skillz. Just needed to rant about it.

Dunno, I went to the US once and was utterly shocked at portion sizes, McD's was a real eye opener for sure.

Its not the portion sizes that shock me, its the cheapness compared to the UK that always shocks me...

That angus cheese bacon thing sounds like a great way to block your arteries up nicely. Especially when your heart is working overtime trying to get blood all the way round your obese body.

I can't fathom how people can be happy to be like that.

I've never been to the states, but I wonder why they only ever show thin people on all the tv programs they send over? Maybe they just like having skinny ambasadors to the rest of the world :)

It does taste rather nice though :p :D

I bet it does :) UK size ones have 700 calories and 41g fat. I bet theirs are twice as big. Add a large fries and a large drink and for a UK meal you've had 1339 calories, 71g sugar, 60g fat (22g saturated) with only 6g fibre. Not bad for a snack.

Last I checked they called them 'meals' ??

Obviously its unhealthy, but wont do any harm if eaten once every so often.

Nope just had a lunch that was toasted wholemeal pitta with ripe brie and sundried tomato with a salad and a glass of really good orange juice.

Probably why I was feeling so self-righteous when I read the article though!

I remember a few years back when they did the Whopper for £1. I ate 5 in one sitting. Not had one since......

Supply and demand. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Or in this case, the tubby tuckers.

Well I guess there is a hope it will become darwinian!! Does this mean we should start a campaign up to shout at everyone we see going into a fast food joint??

Did go to Nando's yesterday thou, yum ! :D

Went to Nandos a few weeks back after one of my food-obsessed mates ravingt about it for ages and I really wasn't impressed... food tasted nice but the plates were clap cold and service wasn't exactly swift, despite a near-empty restaurant.
