**** - Burgled :(

I think he was being serious... unfortunatly if it looked like easy pickings its not unheard of for them to wait til they think you've had stuff replaced on insurance and do it again.

Ah in which case sorry, police didn't specifically bring it up but I'm aware that they might return. Hence why I was asking about Burglar bars etc. It'd be considerably more difficult to get past them than a wooden window frame.

WTF someone stole my Post! They will be back! They have seen what you have, the layout of your place, what they took they know you'll replace, statistics show that you have a very high chance of them targetting you again in a few Months, and as you called me an idiot for no reason I hope they crap in your bed next time. :)

I did say sorry, I thought you were trolling and understandably my tension level is pretty high at the moment!

Bars, pressure pads under the windows/doors. Get cctv too if you're worried.

The fact that they decided to steal ugg boots along with all that other stuff tells you what kind of people they are :p

Hope you get it sorted one way or another!

Sorry to hear about the burglary, a couple of houses on my street were burgled while i was away in florida at the end of september, luckily ours wasnt, but it showed me how easy it can happen.

Where abouts in scotland are you?

And what kind of bike was stolen?

There is a security film you can apply on windows so they won't smash. Well they will smash but it takes a lot of effort. Make sure the door striker is nice and strong and is attached with long screws that go through the jam and in to the house wall. Also deadbolts at the top and bottom. It's easier than you'd think to kick in front doors. Burglar alarm if you can afford it.

Saying "they'll be back" is not something the OP wants to hear in the thread.

He probably already knows that, but did it have to be said so bluntly? Might as well put a nelson-har-har.jpg in :p

Hopefully you get it sorted, mate. Scum.

Might be worth a try checking the likes of cash generators for ur stuff especially the sentimental if u can prove it's urs u should get it back well I hope that's how it works

Well have some for my missus who is quite upset that a lot of her jewellery and her new straighteners and expensive ugg boots were nicked.

Sorry to hear, I havce sympathy for you. My neighbours in my last place got burgled and it was never the same for them again, eventually they sold up.

Complete scum bags, I do wish karma existed.

The Tony Martin way is the best way.

Yeah already keeping an eye on places like ebay/gumtree online and going to take a sniff around the local cash converters.

After doing some research, it looks like doofus is right and after being burgled your chances of being burgled again a couple of months down the line increase once they come back to see if you've replaced the items. Main way of stopping them is some form of deterrent. Hence my thinking along burglar bars and the like. I'm also going to invest in some additional window locks and door locks and consider getting some kind of monitored alarm, I've seen a couple that when the alarm is triggered they speak to you and you have 2 passwords. One to say it was an accidental trigger and the other is to say that theres someone with you and you need help.

If you only have material possessions and are insured then it's happy days. I got burgled twice at university. Insurer told me to make a list of what was pinched then gave me suppliers who could replace them at next to cost price and reimbursed it. Fortunately all that went was a bike, clothes and lots of cds/records (records are the big round black things if you are a young pup :p)

If it is sentimental, that's another matter and very upsetting.

Sorry to hear mate :(.

Things to consider: Proper door locks, Smartwater, Immobilise database, CCTV, burglar alarm, bolted down safe etc.

That's awful. I feel for your missus for her jewellery. I know how I'd feel if someone took items of sentimental value. At least the straighteners can be replaced.
