anyone know what london buses run to heathrow airport. I know national express run but im looking at the normal bus service. Trying to work it out from a bus map is impossibkle. grrrrr!

The only normal bus to Heathrow Airport that I know of is during the night, which is the N9 service from Aldwych to Heathrow Airport.

During the day, I don't think you can get one bus to go from London to Heathrow - it's either Tube, Heathrow Express or the NX bus. There might be some convoluted way to change buses several times to reach Heathrow but it's probably not worth the hassle.

i think the nearest you could get is to take a bus to a station way out on the picadilly line somewhere and get the tube from there.

Otherwise i'd just get the heathrow express

then i was right. I was using the journey planner and couldnt find a route that didnt involve switching from heathrow into central London. This amazes me. Why wouldnt they run a bus on what must be a popular route. Heck they doint even have the airbus any more.

National Express now runs what used to be Airbus, so the service still exists.

Tube is probably the best compromise between cost and time, as long as you don't have too much luggage to lug around the staircases (in some stations). During the weekends where the Piccadilly Line is severely disrupted (timetable already published in advance) then you can buy a Z1-6 Day Travelcard and use the Heathrow Express service for free.

726 is genius :D Once we got back from the US and our cab was a no show, so we hopped on a 726 bus all the way from Heathrow to Beckenham (Bromley) took around about 2 hours (I think). Was an interesting way to end a holiday :D

Not sure why anyone would want to take a bus from London to Heathrow. Must be the slowest choice ever given the traffic problems at both ends. :)

It is.
Get the Heathrow Express if you're wanting to go from/through Russell Square or Bayswater... short ride to Paddington and you're there.

Unless there is a motive you're mysteriously hiding where you most get a bus, I can't see the point of this discussion.

i was just trying to get info on it. Not planning to use it. I remember years ago taking a bus from burnt oak out to heathrow. Beats me why they dont run any more. As far as central london goes its true only the n9 does it i now know.

My guess is the route wasn't economically viable? There's normally a financial reason.

Given the Heatrow Express route and the underground route (which may not have been around when the OP took the bus), you can bet it wasn't financially viable. It's also not particularly luggage friendly. Having said that, with the current Terminal 4/5 work, the bus might end up making a brief comeback.

if it came down to price the heathrow connect is cheaper than the heathrow express and runs the same line making a few stops on the way.
