Hello guys,

I have to do a Business Plan as part of my management development. I have absoultely no idea how to create one, layout, etc.

Anyone got any tips or websites I can refer to for some guidance?

Cheers :)

Business Plan or Business Continuity Plan?

We need some context as to the requirements. Is it a Strategy? A Future State vision? Financial Forecast? Project roadmap?

It's a Business Plan. I basically work for a popular mobile phone company so they want me to design it around Christmas etc and assume that im applying for a Branch Managers position.

Ah right, well that's enough for me to help you.

So you want a draw up set of business goals for the branch you are going to manage over Christmas as the new manager and need to explain how/why they are attainable. Sounds fairly straight forward. As it is part of your management development have a go at it yourself otherwise you won’t learn anything from it.

Yes pretty much mate. I'm just unsure on length as our trainer said 2-3 sides of A4 but a college of mine has a 13-14 page one.

This is a development exercise so 2-3 slide sounds reasonable as you’re not presenting a detailed plan. I would have thought a preamble and a list of goals to start off with then a bullet point and paragraph describing each goal would suffice. You might want to reiterate the plan and add a vision for the future at the end.

As an example, here's what I have in a business plan I've just created (I work for a large software company and this sets out the plans for our partner activity)

1. Company Profile (history, sectors, finances, key players)
2. Pains
3. Vision
4. Objectives
5. Strategy
6. Joint strategic plan
7. Programme benefits and justification
8. Programme implementation plan
9. Governance

Amusing. I did a business plan for a mobile retailer when I applied for the store manager job. :D
