Hi guys, my mobo is completely dead im afraid.
I was moving to a new apartment and unfortunately my mobo couldn't handle the rough transport and now refuses to turn on, tried it and just smelt burning plastic:(.
My motherboard is a "Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard", could anyone recommend a MB in the same price class but with roughly the same features?

Been looking around and no place seem to stock it :(
More annoyed by the fact that im losing all the data on my harddrive.
Will wait and see how the stock is when i get the money scraped together as my soundcard AND PSU got damaged as well.
Will NEVER let my friend do the driving:rolleyes:

You should'nt have lost your HDD data unless you've hooked it up to another machine to test it.

HDD's are designed to take high shocks so it should be ok.

How do you know it's not the PSU that's gone ?

Otherwise go for a similar spec asus board seeing as your familiar with them.

My PW5 just died. I got a P5K deluxe as a replacement. Its fine but no vast difference in performance.

You will have problems with the hard drive your system is on as the OS will see it a new system. It was a nightmare getting it working again and I had prepared by backing up all my data. Had to clean re-install and all that poxy mess getting the SATA drivers loaded without a floppy grrrrrrrrr. And then had to oplead with Microsoft to give me a new authorisation code.

Assuming he's on XP, he should be able to boot up in safe mode to update the drivers if required.

Best then to backup all his data and then do a fresh OS install.
