Quick background...
Came to tax my car on the 30th december only to realise it should have been taxed on the 30th November... for some reason I was acting like a retard and thought that the 12th meant that it was taxed until the end of the 12th month. Pretty retarded considering i've taxed a car every 6 monthes for 4 years now...
Anyway, I taxed it at the lady at the post office told me that nothing would come of it as it was done in the month the tax was due and they generally let it slide. I was dubious but forgot about it....
Recieved a letter today stating that...
I was kind of worried at this point that the fine would be substantial (a student on placement isn't exactly rolling in it
) but it turns out that they only want £45.00... which is the lowest amount. Probably because they realise that it was a genuine mistake!!
Now I know i've done wrong in the eyes of the law. It is an offence, and it does somewhat need enforcing to make sure people don't openly flout the law. But what I can't understand is it seems that there 'all seeing' online checking system has let me through but i've been stung by some freak (who the hell walks around reading tax disks
) who probably hasn't got a job in the day so thought it would be fulfilling to make other people pay tax that pays there dole money
Just annoying, the money isn't a big deal but it's crap that people who generally pay bills/tax on time get stung for one mistake due to criminals who flout the law all the time and moreso get away with it.
Love to find the ******* who sent a letter in.. he'd have 4500 pennies stuffed in his mouth while I jumped up and down on his cheeks.
