Hi all,

I am travelling to Manchester tonight after my works Xmas meal. The meal is in Belper, Derbyshire and the shortest route is to go on the A515 through Buxton.

Can anyone tell me what the roads are like over The Peak District?

Thanks

Where abouts in Belper are you going? (I live a couple of miles outside). The A6 was fine for me earlier (though I only got onto it at Cromford heading towards Matlock). I then went to Chesterfield and and most of the second lanes on the dual carriageways were full of slush/ice still mind :/.

I would have thought the road between Buxton and civilisation (:p) would be a bit dicey in this weather, you don't want to get stuck there that's for sure.

In what sense?

Weather wise, the rain has washed away 99.9% of the snow and ice. Traffic wise completely depends on what time of day you'll be using the road, but seeing as you said "after" your meal, I'd imagine they'd be pretty quiet.

No bad conditions to be weary of at the moment tbh.

Yes, weather wise. The main roads round Belper are fine but slightly worried it might be a different story over the peak district.

I'm heading the River Garden Chinese restaurant. Shall be leaving around 10pm so traffic won't be an issue.

It will be fine. All the high-spots seem to have mostly cleared now, for the most part its just normal road conditions.

I live in Ashbourne and work in Buxton 515 has been clear all week. (to be fair they kept it pretty clear last week as well considering how much snow fall we had) but today the snow has almost gone with having 4oC temperatures and overnight rain.

Just watch the pavements they are not clear yet and it is slippy as hell.
