Japan has launched a bold new initiative to get people drink more, apparently to increase their tax take. They are running a brainstorming competition, and the winning entry will be put into practice.

But aside from boring tax reasons, could this be Japan trying to rebrand itself? No more grey suited salarymen, sober and efficient high speed train networks, or boring appreciation of cherry blossom and anime, say hello to Asia's new party capital? Want to give Sanna Marin a run for her money next time she's over on a diplomatic mission?
Anyway this got me thinking, what would you do to boost alcohol consumption in the UK?
My top idea would be to make it illegal to ride a bus or train without an open container of alcohol in your hand. And no loopholes for kids, the sooner they learn to handle their drink the better.
