Buying a bike but which one?

I've been tempted by a Vee-1 for a while now.

It will be used for the bike to work (road) and riding trails 3 times a week.

ragley m74 is much nicer for that price - decent forks lovely frame and good tyres, proper fun angles, none of that boring xc bike rubbish

Wait, I probably said it wrong.

I mean, the occasional ride to work and a few weekend trails in the forest, and to get fit riding daily on cycle paths towards the trail areas.
