My dad is looking to buy a new camera so he's been looking around a bit and asked me to do the same. I know absolutely nothing about them so was hoping you guys could help me out :)
He wants a really good quality camera which will last for a long time. he's narrowed it down to the Nikon D200 and the Nikon D2x. I know the price difference is enormous between the two but if it's worth the money, he's willing to spend it.
personally I think he should go for the D200 because of the price since he's not into photography on a professional level and thats what the D2x looks like its for.

Your thoughts on the two models?

So its a Nikon or another Nikon?

Maybe he should wait a few weeks to see what Canon announce at PMA. Its rumoured that the replacement to the 20D that will be designed to compete with the D200 will be announced.

If he's not a Pro then the Nikon D200 will be enough but you will also need to buy good lenses to match the quality of the camera.

The new Nikon 18-200mm DX VR F3.5 - 5.6 for around £480 is a great starter lens

Allright, thanks, i'l mention that too :)

Best bed is to go for the D200 and use the money saved from bying the D2x to buy a decent lens or two.

Yea, he doesn't mind spending money as long as its good value. Any suggestions as to which one?

Thanks for the help everyone :D
