sup guys
ok so i need a notebook with good battery life and power, for use in school in September. I'm drawn to the basic macbook , for ~£700 ... I was thinking if it wasn't sufficient somewhere in the future I could buy 4GB RAM and a new 7200RPM HD for it ...
thoughts?
There's been quite a few threads about this - but i think the answer is definitely go for it... if it will suit your needs do it!
The new 2.1ghz is sufficient for pretty much everything, in fact i think its quicker than the older 2.2ghz model...
I think the gap between the consumer and pro lines has definitely diminshed since the old days.. the only downside of the MB is the fact that the graphics are shared - whereas the pro is dedicated..
Ram is dirt cheap so you can pick it up whenever... If you're planning on using it for office apps/internet etc - the macbook will be more than sufficient
As for the hdd, i personally dont think anything bigger than 160gb is necessary for a notebook... you can always buy a wd passport drive for storage/backup... or upgrade to a 250gb...
I bought my macbook before xmas and I've never been happier... so happy in fact I've just upgraded to a macbook pro...
Its possible to run windows should you require... but for MS Office etc microsoft have just (until the end of april) introduced a deal where you can get microsoft office for mac for little more than the cost of an xbox game
Anyway - I'm sure the more knowledgeable bods will be along shortly...
Have you used mac os before?? if not you wont be disappointed!
I was a heavy windows user but decided to make the switch. Gutted I still have to use windows in work - but as i didnt pay for the computer it suits me!
