buying a second hand...

Cheers guys. Not really an iPhone fan but for £100 and me fixing the glass its worth it. My Mrs dropped hers down the toilet so I am sure she will be happy

I'd be checking the small print, yes it may be a free gift, but they can tie that gift into the terms and conditions, so it's yours once you're minimum contract period has been reached, not before.

so the guy is so tight for money he would rather get £100 for a £500 phone than spend less than £100 to fix it and sell it for £400+?

so what if the screen is smashed theres a guy round here who fixes the glass for £5, if its more than just the glass then probably £50 max. i dont know because i have never used him but when i was talking to him a lady came back for her repaired phone and he charged her £5 to fix the glass on her iphone, dont know if she paid more up front or whatever but it looked like she inspected it and then asked how much and he said a fiver.

the guy must be rather dumb he could get more than double that on gumtree or ebay even with it smashed. also im not entirely sure what people have said about it not being barrable is correct, if so then this would enable people to exploit their system really badly.

i mean an overseas student who has came here just to study for 3-6 years, after building up a decent credit history over their years here, could take out 100 contracts in a month and then just take all the phones and sell them on for £500 each brand new before leaving the country to never return.

if it is true then you can bet it wont stay like this for long, as soon as people find out they will be doing what i described, especially with all the eastern europeans who are currently flocking in.

^^ Who's to say they don't rip off the company's? How would anyone know? Maybe they have introduced blocking now but I know from past experience they didn't do. Also as above has said his mate works for a phone company and they don't do it.

OP take the risk if it goes wrong sell it on ebay. But mention it will not work on any English network, everyone knows what that means.
