Buying an iphone tommorow...

Get one now! :p

Surely your not going to loose too much money buying one now, Any you will be missing out while waiting for the new one :D

No, you don't sign anything, you walk in, pay for the phone, walk out.

Can't you get a debit card at 17?

No you cant.

Ok so I have one from the carphone warehouse - they took all my mums boyfriends details and im worried. What will happen if i dont go onto the contract??

Nothing, he didn't sign a contract, he just bought some hardware and probably signed the paperwork that says he's aware the phone is "useless" without a PC/Mac that can run iTunes and a subscription.

Pwnage/bootneuter uses 4.6.

I've not heard about wifi being faster in 4.6.. the only things i've heard of are wifi breaking running older hacks on 4.6 and locate me not working in google maps if you downgrade the baseband.

Hmm so its running 4.6? Whats the point of Ziphone downgrading the BL then in the first place?

Well i have been refused twice now in 2

I've got clarification on this. Here's an e-mail from o2:

Thank you for emailing us to ask about the payment in the O2 stores.

I'm sorry your query was not answered correctly in our previous email. This is because your last email was answered our automated response service.

We accept the Solo card with Switch option and Visa card. You can use any of the following cards:

a) Switch/Maestro
b) Solo (with Switch option)
c) Visa
d) MasterCard
e) Delta
f) American Express.
blah blah blah

Now the below is taken from the wikipedia page on Solo cards. The whole article isn't that up to date, however the part relevant to this discussion is good enough.

Solo cards are linked to the Switch processing system (now re-branded as Maestro); however, some merchants differentiate between Solo and Switch through their numbering scheme to prevent under 18s from purchasing online.

If you're under 18 there's a chance your Solo card won't be Switch enabled so it might not work if you try to buy online. Thing is you shouldn't be able to tell from just looking at the card, so in store the sales assistant shouldn't be refusing it outright because it's a Solo card. If they are then you need to be kicking up a fuss until they put it through the till.

edit:

Just wanted to add that I went in to store with a 17 year old yesterday and he paid for an iPhone with his Solo card and had no problems at all.

I'm not sure how Apple plans to enforce the 2-per-card limit.

I must be on my 5th or 6th iPhone with various cards, so I'd hate to buy the 3G model only to be rejected because of my previous purchases.

Guilty :o;)

Got banned from 02 in Swansea because I offered to unlock some guys phone, albeit he was at the till, but still, I can't see why the staff would get as mad as they did.
