Hey guys, I had a thought. Instead of buying individual parts for my computer. I was going to buy PC's and strip them down and use some of their parts. To make this clear, I would only be using the Case, Optical Drive, RAM and the Hard Drive. Does this seem feasible to you guys?

Thanks.

Depends on what PC's you've got? I don't feel you can gain much of an advantage from this. RAM can be tricky, i know the 1366 systems use 1.6v ram where the newer ones use 1.5v.

Older systems may use IDE HDD's so watch out. If you picking them up off auction sites, it may be hard as the people selling them more than likely know the value of the parts too.

I think its just cheaper to buy parts.

Good point, although a cheap PC may still be useful, as I am attempting my first build. So I could take apart the old PC's and then put them together again to gain more knowledge.
