I seriously can't wait to pick it up. Feeling that power from the DAS bikes again...it's very addictive.

its a nice machine,be a huge step up from a 125 so be carefull on it

take a look at the oil filter when you get the bike and make sure its a shiny new one, they often say they service them and don't touch a thing

Good tip, will check that, thanks.

you will lose a good 20mph with that tax disc on it tho

:p It's gone as soon as I have the bike in my garage.

Very nice, I contemplated an SV650 but after sitting on one for 10 minutes it felt a little small around the legs for me. I wouldn't have worried about the exhaust scratch tbh, it's the first thing you'll be swapping out :D

Not a bad price, although... you can pick them up brand new (pre registered) for under £3995, although without the side fairings.

Also, if you're gonna be riding through winter, get the bike ACF-50'ed - allyearbiker.co.uk will give it a proper valet/degrease and coat it in ACF-50 for £60, and being a suzuki the winter won't be too kind to it!

Enjoy the v-twin torque and sound, they're not that powerful compared to most 650-800cc v-twins (70bhp), I didn't die on my 2 hours on the monster 821 with 112bhp so you'll be fine :)

And yeah, get that tax disc off, and make sure by checking online that the dealer has taxed it, as you/he won't get a tax disc.

Thanks for the tips. I'm a big wimp at the moment so I think I'll be fine through sheer fear.

Will look into that ACF-50 - never heard of it before.

Didn't know that you could buy a brand new bike for £3,995 (less purchase discount), but they stopped doing them in the UK from 2012 afaik? Which means mine was one of the last produced, so for 3,600 miles I've saved a quarter of retail price for a bike with the latest Oxford heated grips, 12 months tax, and crash bungs, which works for me, even if it isn't an earth shattering deal :).

They still make them, £4k pre-reg, brand spanking new. Choice of colours so long as it's white or black :D List price is £4975 on the suzuki website, so they're offering a grand off list price.

In fact a place down the road from me is doing them pre-reg, 0 miles, choice of white or black for £3899. http://www.alfordbros.co.uk/used-motorcycles/alford-bros-view-motorcycle.asp?SP_ID=2319733&BRA_ID=2254

I'm still on the lookout for a first big bike, also a V-twin but an Aprilia Shiver. But my trusty varadero will need a new rear tyre in a few weeks, plus it's MOT is due at the start of January - so all in it needs £200 spending on it (not bad considering I've done 6500 miles on it and spent only £50 on new fork seals in that time) so I'll probably end up keeping it until end of Feb/March time and getting something nice once spring has sprung, plus I'll have a years no claims in April too.

Tail tidy and an exhaust that's slightly shorter than 6ft long should be first on your list of upgrades :p And yeah TBH I think the side fairings are a couple of hundred quid, plus heated grips, you've got a few worthy extras.

Trouble with brand new is you lose a lot of value soon as it leaves the showroom, then you have to shell out on the first few major services which can be expensive, can't beat a well looked after used machine

Absiolutely stunning bike...here's what I went for.... Look familiar? :p

Thats what mine looked like the day i got it.

I changed for a Fuel mini oval carbon fibre look can which sounds absolutely incredible. Changed the sidelights, headlight bulbs, added shorty levers and added rim tape. I added on a tail tidy, fender extender rear hugger, heated grips when i bought it. Give me a few minutes I'll get some pics up of how it looks now.

INteresting reading this thread owning one myself. I had a CBR125 for 8 months, got bored, went and passed test and bought my SV last day of february. Restricted to 47bhp, but still feels damn quick, and I absolutely love the V-twin, sounds lovely, don't need to rev it's ******** off to get it moving

Few weeks ago at Oulton Park BSB

The fairings are why my SV650S has been written off, they cost a bomb!

You can't directly compare the 650 to the 650S prices for that reason.
