Buying new GPU

Right guys, I am wanting to upgrade my whole PC.

I am wondering if I should go for the 790i board with 2 x gtx280 or should I get the foxconn blackops board with 2 x 4870x2.

Any ideas?

2 x 4870x2 is better than 2 x GTX 280 but 3 x GTX 280 in Tri-SLI is better than 2 x 4870x2.

Well, I don't see a need for Tri-Sli really.

I will be gaming on the Nec 2690 Monitor.

What power supply would you guys recommend?

x48 is MUCH more reliable so i'd go there and a 4870 x2, 4 gpus doesn't scale as well as 2 tbh

Yes I do realize I need above 750W. I was wondering what brand should I go for?

I am going to go for 1000W. And I heard some has this whatever 8pin pci-e or 6pin pci-e, hence the PSU question.

x48 is MUCH more reliable so i'd go there and a 4870 x2

A for PSU i would look at either

Corsair HX 1000W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-1000HXUK)

2 x 4870X2 will do you nicely....overkill but nice.

I'm using a 600w psu with 4gb of ram and 2 HDDs no problem at all. Hard to say without seeing the rest of your spec but 1000w is probably overkill

EDIT - and a 4870x2 - hence my post was relevant!

I would get the Corsair 1000watt PSU, its one of the best around.
