Buying PC in the US

Son is off to the US for a year and is now thinking about his PC. He is looking at getting his PC shipped to the US, but i was thinking he could purchase a new one out there?

Anyone done this? Pro's/Cons? Is he able to claim the tax back? I know when i worked overseas, i had stuff shipped to me by Amazon and i could claim the tax back.

Also, PCs cheaper, or more expensive over there? Where to buy?

His current PC is in a very fragile state, as well as the shipping costs, i am not sure it will survive the journey!

Any advice would be appreciated.

you should consider waht the warranty repair process might be.
is he going to be gaming? or just web and social media?

i think laptop is the way to go tbh, and then its just changing power cord. its lighter easier to travel with un hand luggage and not likely to get "Lost" or "Broken"
make sure the hard disk is encrypted if there is any personal information on there as well.

OcUK will ship this FOC if you ask nicely.

Edit: just seen it's on sale too, save £59 if you order soon.
doesn't say if its free delicery or not so no deal

Laptop, just remember keyboard layout will be US which can be annoying

If he can wait a couple of months there's always good laptop deals in the Black Friday sales
