So this guy is offering me a second hand pc

2500 xp chip out of a laptop and its over clocked to a 3200 xp it can overclock much further he said, not tryed to the limit.

XP 3200+, 160 gig Hard drive,1024 Megabytes,DDR Dualchannel ram,16 X Dual layer DVD-+ RW,Radeon 9700 pro,128 MB Graphics card Extreme edition,sound blaster audigy sound card 5.1 surround sound,17" Compaq CRT monitor,Keyboard and Optical mouse. Windows XP and lots of other software installed. Bargain PC for multi task or gaming.

for £275

for that value is it worth it? it was built a year ago so i was told.

how much RAM exactly, and i wouldn't reckon on that 2500 overclocking much more. apart from that it sounds ok, certainl be hard pushed to get similar for the same price, try and bash him down to 250 though, and bear in mind there will only be a small amount of upgradeabilty you will be able to do, as it is all old stuff, sockets, DDR etc

I managed to sell a very similar system minus the peripherals for £150.. so i think you could barter him down a bit...

heres what he had to say

its a gigabyte ga 7n400 lan and theres 1 gig of ram 4 x 256mb sticks running in dual channel mode...so equivalent to 2 gig.

so how many years in the running will this machine last me. i don't know much about this mobo but say if i wanted to add extra stuff do you think it would be possible to detach those components and reattach them onto a new motherboard?

or i might decide to get this one brand new all built up and add a few things
