There's no protection on FB like there is with Ebay and CEX.
Quite right, but not everything will show up in a 10 minute test. I bought an electronics item from there which appeared fine on inspection, he showed me it working, but then later found out the battery wasn't charging properly. You're absolutely correct in saying it's great for prices but after having being burnt on there I'd rather go for the 30 day money back guarantee on Ebay etc (I think CEX do a year guarantee but they are the most expensive).
If you can spend £100 on a Rift OP can you stretch to £150 for a Quest 2? Honestly it'd be worth it. You're going to missing out on a lot of what is good about VR such as wireless (if you have the necessary wifi setup) and standalone gaming, portability.
Five years warranty with CEX, can be better than when an item was bought new.!

That's good to know, they are 1 of the most expensive though when it comes to second hand goods. I think Ebay is a nice middle ground because you get 30 days guarantee, faults will show up by then, and the prices are still pretty competitive, not as low as FB prices but not as high as CEX either. Not too long ago I bought a couple of Kobo readers from CEX, on different occasions. IIRC both were B graded, but seemed brand new, each of them.
Ebay were much more expensive at the time and the warranty with CEX was a no brainier for peace of mind, as you note. As well as the quality of the readers, exactly as described, minus any notable defects.
One was a Koba Libra 2 and the other a Kobo Aura One. Battery life has been great.
Just good to have choices.
I have not used Gumtree in a long time.Just thought about them.

@Vimes I've just looked on Ebay there are Quest 3S's starting at £162 on Buy It Now listings, you'd get mixed reality mode with and the better panels, better GPU + CPU and more longevity out of it regards updates and software etc. To be honest I'd go all out for a Quest 3 because of the lenses but if your budget is strict then it's strict.

Difficult to find fault with that price and headset though, great price and very worth noting.

Ethernet for the PC, although I've a decent top end wifi card available if I ever need it. One room away for the router, about 20ft at most from the pc.
I've spent the days since starting the thread reading reviews, reading this forum for more opinions, and how they've used their kit etc. I'm pretty set that the Quest 3, paid over 5 months is the sensible option, even though Zuck can go suck. The pancake lenses for one thing seems something I'd want after reading about all the different lense types the headsets have. I hadn't even considered the movie watching, or sports events you can use the things for.
Edit: Instantly bought a better weighted headstrap. I could not manage more than 10 minutes with the stock strap.

Yes, I spoke to our local CEX and they advertised units on their site and eBay. Damaged or headsets with issues are also flipped on the bay.
