Bye Ben

I'm so sorry to hear that. My 2 year old boxer had to get put down this time last year with cancer. I still miss the wee thing not to mention our 9 year old just before that. It's hard but as long as you gave him the best life possible and from those pics he looks very content and happy then he was lucky to have such a good owner.

Here is a little poem someone gave to me when I lost my first dog. I find it very comforting and hopefully you will to.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies, that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can fun and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor, those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of Your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross
Rainbow Bridge together...

RIP Ben :(

Looks a beautiful dog, so long as he had a good life and was happy, and in turn made others smile, then that is the thing you will remember.

commiserations mate :(

ive got a 13 year old Labrador, she really struggles to walk at times, they are such wonderful dogs, no one could ask for a more loving and loyal companion than a dog of that breed.

Thanks for all your thoughts folks. Thought you might be interested to know that there's a new addition :) We got her as our other two are both 14 and we don't want either to be left on their own at any time.

So here's either Mian or Dana, can't quite make up our minds :)

She's lovely as are your other two. When my first dog died we were told to go straight out and get another which is exactly what we did. Don't think i'd ever be without a dog now. It's fantastic that they have each other for company. :)

Best wishes

Matt

Very very cute. Let me dig up a picture of my friend's brown labby as a pup...

Edit, damnit I've lost the pictures, he looked like a bear with a dog's face :)

RIP Ben.
It drew a tear to my eye because I had a black Labrador exactly like yours. Looked the same and everything, until I lost him to cancer. I was numb for days, because he had grew up with me, I got him when I was 3 months old. I basically grew up with him, and I always used to take him on walks and everything. He was like a brother to me, then he was gone.
