bye bye 340 Type-R

Saw a TVR burning like that on the M62 just coming past Xscape last year. Poor bloke was stood on the hard shoulder with his hands on his head watching it burn. Must be a real **** to have that happen to your pride and joy.

Life goes on! LOL, afterall, we all know 340Rs are really made from plastic! :p

Gutted for the guy really, but like he said, not a lot you can do in a situation like that, its a vehicle, it can be replaced, he cant!

and what would they do if they stopped?

Maybe try to calm him down? How do they know that he's a cool headed guy. Come on mate, that's common sense. How do they know he's not staggering/dazed/confused? The fact is someone could have pulled over to CHECK. I'd rather do that than just carry on. I'd hate to have you drive past me/my car had I just been in an accident.

How do you know someone hadn't stopped, and just wasn't on camera?

the problem with making cars out of aluminium and fibre glass. the elise burns so well because of the aluminium chassis that become hot enough to burn by the petrol and the fibre glass burning. the same way the ships burned in the falklands war.

its absolutely gutting and very dangerous (the fire gets far hotter than a normal car fire) but its the price you pay for using aluminium. hes luck he got out in time.

:( man that's bad. I've only ever seen one in real life, it was this one at oulton park in may:

Absolutely gutting :(

But when a legend being so calm about it and filming it

Someone stopped for him..you can make out a person stood in the shot watching. You can also see reflections off the back of a parked car on the left about 50 seconds into the video.

A mates campervan had a similar experience to the elise but on a country road. He noticed the engine had caught fire so ducked into a nearby field and sat there watching it burn :(

<tp> in the corner is twilight-photography.co.uk which is rG-'s site :)

In other words - yes he did take it :p

I had a petrol pipe leak just because the rubber had split, but it leaked over the intake manifold not the exhaust manifold so it was ok pretty much. Duct taped it up and replaced it later
