Bye bye Rover 400....

Don't rag it in 1st gear. You'll have a nice bill for a gearbox replacement if you do.

don't they have a boost limiter that kicks in first gear to protect the transmission like the 220 turbo does?

the new box, was it fitted with steel-caged bearings?

That's the current owner's picture, its not home with me yet :( drove 170 miles last night to confirm the sale.

Yeah the moss is growing there, only a thin coating, not actually growing in lumps or anything :p

Small bit of cloth on the end of a screwdriver, just be careful not to damage the seal...

Straights wont fit.

The 220 didnt have a boost limiter, it had a bleed type valve which gradually increased boost with revs rather than giving full boost at 2500rpm like a ball and spring controller does.

I wouldnt be suprised if the gearbox bearings were steel caged, I could only buy steel caged bearings for the majority of the bearings in the gearbox when I did 2-3 boxes.

Now dont drive it like a tit. :p

Despite basically driving one(!) I still don't quite understand the fascination with Rovers.

Horses for courses ;)

Cheap, tuneable and actually quite fun to drive.

Karl, this 620Ti belongs to MGJohn off RT. Pretty sure it'll have had a steel caged rebuild knowing him :) Still not an excuse to boot it everywhere though... even steel caged bearings can die!

Will be a good one then.

Sound buy for the money!

As for tyres, I would be happy to buy either Toyo T1-R or Avon ZZ3s again.

Not tried Eagle F1s as they dont do them in my size.
