Bye, Sky - but not the router?

I am about to migrate from Sky BB to PlusNet - will I still be able to use the wireless Netgear router that came witht he Sky BB package?

I know there is a need to overwrite firmware etc if you want to use a DIFFERENT router WITH Sky BB, but are there any things that need to be done for me to use Sky's Netgear router with Plusnet?

should just be a change of username and password for the modem to connect to +net. Wireless itself will not be affected

You'll need to flash to the Netgear firmware in order to enter the new user and password details.

so, can i flash the firmware now while still with sky ? if i have to wait to be disconnected, it's a bit of a catch 22 isn't it?

Sky to Plusnet... WHY !!!

From my past expierences with Plusnet they were awful, the customer service was disgusting and the speed of service was pretty pathetic.

On the other hand I am now with UK Online who run on the same network as Sky and I cant fault them at all.

enta reseller or other llu but thats frying pan & fire, plusnet is just BT!!!! with a diferent name & same fup.

The router thing is dead easy so just google it, done mine and its great & has no refernce to sky, id say dl the firmware from netgear & recovery flash & away U go. There are lots of guides how to do it & its easy to follow.

To answer the "Why not Sky" question, I'm actually getting rid of the TV service and I wouldn't get the BB for £5 a month then!

Plusnet gets some very good reviews (in the last 6 months) with the majority of people being v happy with it.

I left BT & went to enta, The issues with plusnet will be the same as with BT, just think you need to rethink as even AOL is better than BT for the cost & the caps they impose. They have have good reviews over the last 6 months but please do a bit more checking before you jump, if not good luck

I was looking at the 9.99 package so that isn't more expensive than the link - and the router PlusNet give you with that package doesn't state it as being wireless.

Ok... if I were to think twice (as most people seem to be advocating) how about O2? They seem to get some pretty decent reviews....
