A colleague has locked herself out of her phone (galaxy s4 mini) - strangely she changes her lock code every week or so but this time (!) has managed to forget it.

From what I can google, there is no way to recover any of the data as the only way nowadays to bypass the lock is to do a full erase and factory reset.

And before you ask, no, photos etc. were not backed up to the cloud.

So is there any way out there that it can be done?

In b4 OP has stolen a phone and wants to access it for nefarious deeds.

I'm sure there are ways of pulling data from it if she had device encryption turned off but you're looking at specialist and expensive work.
If she had encryption turned on then the data is scrap.

If you have cerberus on the phone that can reset the security code for you. Do they have any security/find my phone type applications enabled?

No sd card unfortunately. No cerberus either.

And thanks stuie but you lose the data if you reset from there, which is want I'm trying to avoid. Photos of recently born child on the phone etc., so looking for any means available to recover the data.

With Sony Xperia device locator you can lock and set a new password. This is what I used recently when I forgot the unlock pattern on a tablet.

Probably something similar for Samsung devices.

I dont think you lose data if you select the reset password option thats why theres a separate option for erase

That being said ive never done it so youd be better off checking with google

EDIT:

would indicate its just a password reset

Does she have a Samsung account on it?

If so she can login to that and remotely unlock it from there.
