Hi All,

My C&C 3 is having an odd tendancy to crash on me, I have most settings on high (Not very high) and AA on 1. And im getting a crash even with the game running on one core.

I have a Geforce 8600GT on a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Vista Premium, 2046 of Ram.

It comes up with a Graphics error and saying that because of the seriousness of the error the game will now exit.. the game itself comes to a standstill then crashes out to that error.

Im gonna try updating my drivers later, but any other ideas? I've patched to 1.09.

Okay the crash has happened again, I updated to the latest driver last night, its coming back with a direct 3D error, exception 0x0x88760870, and various bits and peices to do with the cnc4game.dat file and the Kernal32.dll

Its also stated the Display driver nviddmkm stopped responding..

Any ideas folks?

Mine used to crash. Trying to cast my mind back, is there a shader detail setting in the graphics? I had to drop mine down and it was fine then.

Still happening... tried compatability mode and also reducing the shaders to medium/

This is the error...

It's Vista, can't realy go into more detail than that though. I had the same problem, had to constantly keep saving the game as it would crash about every 5 minutes.
It's one of the reasons I went back to XP, yeah yeah Vista lovers im sure it's a driver and not entirly Vista's fault but who cares, it's either stable or it is'nt.

West I guess you can't put XP on as it's a Dell, you proberly don't want to anyway. I remember googling a few possible solututions (none of them worked) I think there is a pretty hefty thread about it on EA's forums.

OT/ I see you have Vent installed, do you have any problems with that under Vista?

EDIT
Also I remember C&C having a not compatible with Vista64 on the back of the box, but I think most people reported it ran anyway, + I'm sure Dell ship with 32bit.

Nah its 32bit, Vent I dont use that often, always seems to quit out, but I think thats more down to my connection rather than anything.

I played a successfull game last night, i did a couple of things that the thread on the official forum suggested, theres a 60 page thread on there circling this issue, and the fact tha this game is just so badly coded that this sort of error is coming up constantly for a lot of people with Nvidia cards... and EA just arent paying any attention what so ever, there have been 9 patches as well and this still has not been adressed.
