Game over. It's been cancelled in its current form.

Generals,

Thank you for your participation over the last few months in the Command & Conquer closed alpha test. It’s been much appreciated, and you’ve been instrumental in helping define what a new Command & Conquer experience should and shouldn’t be.

Part of being in a creative team is the understanding that not all of your choices are going to work out. In this case, we shifted the game away from campaign mode and built an economy-based, multiplayer experience. Your feedback from the alpha trial is clear: We are not making the game you want to play. That is why, after much difficult deliberation, we have decided to cease production of this version of the game. Although we deeply respect the great work done by our talented team, ultimately it’s about getting you the game you expect and deserve.

Over the next 10 days we will be refunding any and all money spent in the alpha. If you have a question about your refund, please contact help.ea.com.

We believe that Command & Conquer is a powerful franchise with huge potential and a great history, and we are determined to get the best game made as soon as possible. To that end, we have already begun looking at a number of alternatives to get the game back on track. We look forward to sharing more news about the franchise as it develops. Thank you again for your participation and support.

Glad they cancelled it but very surprised EA ever thought after the previous C&C disaster's an F2P MP based C&C with no SP campaign was something anyone was prepared to pay for anyway

EA should just go back to the roots of the series make a 2.5D SP heavy only game using the latest Frostbite engine = ££££

Far too many modern games have forced MP/Co-Op its ruining a lot of them as few games do it well most are just tacked on with the lowest bidder doing the work & the QA is done by the public most of the time

If EA examined what made the first few C&C games sell well over 10m copies on PC alone (even with heavy piracy & no digital sales) they would understand what needs to be done .....how hard can it be:(

Got my code on the 16th October, still not used it yet though.
Not sure if I can be bothered.

Surely the majority of people get RTS games for multiplayer? I haven't phage through a single player on an RTS since red alert.

I play them for the story, bfme, all c&c games, maelstrom (underrated game) and many more. id play them online but I just don't have the skill to be a challenge.

Lets hope they just make Red Alert 4 now, it is the best series they have!
Just started going back through 3 :D

Just started going back through 3 myself, although, best series? debatable!

Loved the story for the cnc series above all others.

Preferred the game play of generals above all others.

I think i'm still miffed at RA1 though as it was already established and total annihilation came out, no-one heard of it, and therefore wasn't as mainstream as RA1.

TA still my fav rts to this day, with supreme commander (no expansions) a close second.

Really would love a new Generals though, and quite happy to see EA listening to people to get it made properly!
