Ive been away to North Wales for a few days, and i took my camera with me. These are the first pictures ive really tried to put some thought into and have tried my best to concentrate on composition etc etc. I hope you enjoy them as much as i enjoyed taking them, please comment as i know i have a LONG way to go.

Thanks for looking.

They're nice pictures. You might want to consider resizing them a little as even on my 24" they're big. My favorite is number two as it has a nice composition and brilliant sky. I think number four is the weakest of them, it's got a wonky horizon and the interaction between the foreground and background is just confusing.

is that Gt orme in the last pic? in which case you would have taken it from Conwy?

The 1st has potential, a lower shutter speed and zoomed out a bit would have been better IMO, i can see what you are trying to do with no.2 but it doesn't work think rule of 3rds and no.3 is alright actually, kinda works in B+W.

oops, sorry about the sizes, they should be better now.

i took the picture from the little Orme (by the bobsleigh track) looking over Llanndudno beach. I see what you mean about the wonky horizon. Tbh i let the missus talk me into it being a good picture. I didnt like it origanally. Should always trust my instincts. :(

Hey I think number 2 has the best idea behind it. Just a few comments though, the horizon is slight wonky (this can be seen in the posts that are slightly leaning towards the ocean) but you can fix that. I would also have probably shot that in landscape format (or at least have given it a try).

No 4 is compostionally the weakest I think. I always try and ask myself "Whats the idea behind the shot" and I just cant seem to think of what you were trying to achieve with it. I would have probably tried to take a shot where there were no trees i nthe foreground and perhaps tried to focus on the interesting textures and shape of the rock and its juxtaposition with the village.

Hope this helps!

thanks DLB, i hadnt nothiced that number 2 was wonky ill get that sorted asap. TBH the more i look at number 4 the more i dont like it, i dont know why i posted it tbh:P I guess thats part of the learning curve though.
