C:\Windows Folder 13.5GB

that sounds about right by the time all the updates are in and all the drivers one other thing you could do is disabe windows features that you dont use like windows media center windows games stuff like that and it will save you more space

So then... this looks normal?

and just FYI I just now found out that apparently Windows boots faster WITH the boot logo than without. I always thought it would be the latter.

Alright, one more question!

Is 18 seconds boot time okay?

It takes 11 to get to windows logo, and it takes another 7 to get to desktop.

I think the POST could be a lot quicker. I can't see a 'quick boot' option on my BIOS, is there anything I could do?

About right too. Depends how long your motherboard takes to warm up. There is the SMART check, and the memory check that can take a fair amount of time.

You can try BootRacer to time your boots. Also tweak 'msconfig' to see if there is any bloat starting up at boot that you don't need.

try this in cmd

dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded /hidesp

removes the sp1 backupfiles should free up 5-6gb of space if you havent installed from a sp1 image

Cheers, learn something new every day :)
Only freed up about 2GB for me though.
My windows dir is just over 22GB.

Erm..

He said bloated, he didnt say it wasnt smooth, or didnt run very nice. Yes it does run on old hardware, its still a massive install.

For me "bloated" in this context means lots of processes and tasks making a system run slowly.

I've come to this from constantly hearing Vista referred to as bloated. Something that I rarely, if ever hear Windows 7 referred to as.

However you are probably right to pull me up on my post since the OP was talking about OS size and not efficiency. I was just knocked off topic by use of the phrase "horribly bloated" which I think was a poor choice. Your word "massive" is better. Bloated induces thoughts of something overburdened with useless stuff like a fat man who can't run very fast (Vista). Which I don't think applies to Windows 7 as it's a pretty good OS. Like Usain Bolt, massive but can really shift. Definitely not bloated.:)

Just my opinion that's all.

Back OT, @Cythx I think your install size and boot times sound fine.
