C2D memory

I've been an AMD man for quite some time but am considering upgrading to C2D. So I have a couple of questions:

What is the standard memory speed for a non-overclocked C2D system?
What speed would be recommended for a highly overclocked E6300?
Does it make a difference if I get 2x1gb or 4x512mb?

Good quality PC2-6400 (something with Micron D9's)

Yes. 4x512mb can be harder to overclock.
