Hiya,

This drive is about 2 weeks old. Thought it was fine - using HD tune to bench it - I get max read speeds of about 300MB/s. Great I thought.

Then today I did an AS bench. Things do not look so good...

HD tune is still giving the same sort of results.(300MB/s ish max)

It's on an Asus P7P55D-E board with an onboard Marvell SATA III controller.

Any advice chaps?

RST doesn't detect the drive at all...

Only detects the SATA drives which are on the Intel P55 SATA controller, not on the Marvell...

I updated the BIOS this afternoon too.

Has made no difference.

Only updated slightly anyhow - nothing spectacular expected.

I've tried the drive on both the P55 Intel Controlled SATA connections and the Marvell, both are giving pretty much exactly the same speeds.

Are the AS results above right(ish) for a c300 on SATA II?

If so - I'm leaning towards the board being faulty. If not I'm leaning towards the drive.

edit - the 4k 4k-64Thrd results are better on the Intel SATA II.

edit - have contacted Asus - lets see what they say.

Silence is deafening from Asus. Crucial have been keen to help, but say they've never heard of this problem before.

Ok - well I heard absolutely nothing from Asus about this... except I was told that there's no phone support for motherboards outside the US... I've emailed them twice about this and got nothing at all back except automated emails...

Anyway - the culprit here it seems is bitlocker...

Unencrypted, the drive gets decent speeds (370Mb/s read)

Encrypted - it drops to 170Mb/s
