I'm so indecisive it's unreal.
After weeks of dilly dallying i was about to finally push the button and buy the crucial C300 128gb but at the last moment i thought I'll just see if there's a review on the rocket highpoint 620 sata 6gb card which i was going to buy to allow it to reach it's claimed speeds. What i have read has put major doubts in my mind, things like adding 17 seconds to windows boot time, not achieving the claimed speeds and generally been a bit rubbish.

So now i'm back thinking buy the ocz vertex 120gb which requires no additional card and should be pretty straight forward.

Is there anyone out there who has the c300/highpoint combination and how does it work for you?
Or should i bin the crucial route and go with ocz?

Any tips and opinions would be most welcome.

From the as-ssd benches i've seen, the Highpoint is fine with regards to performance. Intel onboard has the edge on 4k 64 threads random writes, but this is a pretty uninfluential benchmark for normal users and we're still talking over 25000IOPS.

Trouble is i just can't make my mind up
The C300 is the more expensive option but it is quicker where as the OCZ is a bit slower but all round has faster writes and doesn't require the extra card.

Decisions, decisions.

just get something cheap to tide you over for a few months until the next generation arrive. The Sandforce SF-2000 is specced at 500MB/s sequential reads and writes, and 234MB/s at 4K. It'll can take 2*nm NAND too so will likely be cheaper than the current generation.
You probably wouldn't notice much difference between a Vertex2 and a C300 in normal use anyway.

I'm now going back to the OCZ, as u said no point in spending a fortune when technology is moving so fast...........so it's the bigfoot for me :)
